Important Items to Know

  • What to wear - wear whatever clothes you normally do; that said, pants are easier to work around than skirts and dresses. Patients do not have to disrobe at any point.

  • Missed appointments - we do not charge for a missed appointment, but we ask that you give at least 24 hours’ notice, so that time can be given to another patient. Missing two visits without prior notice may result in terminating the patient’s care here.

  • How long per visit? Most of your office visits will be about 10 minutes. The initial consultation, exam and treatment will take 30-60 minutes.

  • Patient Privacy - patient privacy is strictly regulated for all healthcare providers, and we take your confidentiality very seriously. We will not share any healthcare information without your approval. This office is also Dr. Mendes’s family residence, so there may be children or other family members present in the house at times. Also, the waiting area of the office is connected to the adjusting area, so other patients may be nearby when you are being treated. If you ever need to discuss anything in strict confidence, please let Dr. Mendes know and he will make arrangements. Reminder texts may be sent to you prior to your appointment.

  • We have restrooms available.

  • Pricing - I don’t take insurance, and therefore am able to charge you much less per visit than the national average. Ask for the separate sheet on this topic if I have not given it to you.

  • What to expect after adjustment - usually gradual improvement. Sometimes, fast improvement. Sometimes, after your first adjustment (or first in a long time) you may feel some soreness or tightness. This is not uncommon and is usually gone within 24 hours. Apply an ice pack wrapped in a T-shirt or towel to the sore area and call Dr. Mendes if it persists.

  • Chiropractic works with the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Chiropractic is not a “pain management” technique. As your body gets healthier, and your joints get healthier, a natural effect of that is less inflammation and less pain. Some people get very fast results, other people take several weeks to feel an improvement. This will depend on how severe your problem is and how long you have had it. Beyond just a decrease in pain, we will be looking to see an increase in your ability to move and be active, and signs of overall improvement in health (like sleeping better, blood pressure normalizing, etc).
