Correct Your Posture

Updated: May 25

Did you know that May is National Correct Your Posture Month? Let’s talk a little bit about the postures we all get into when we lean down into our books, computers, and cell phones. You see when we slouch forward, we end up putting pressure on all of the interior portions of our necks, including the nerves that go to our arms and many other important things.

So if we can take a few minutes to decompress that pressure by placing our hands behind our heads with elbows wide, and then pushing our heads back into our hands. Hold that position for perhaps a count of ten and then go ahead and stretch the arms back and release. If you can do that at least once an hour, even if you work a desk job where you sit in front of a computer all day long, it’s going to do so much to correct your posture.

In reality, the neck and upper shoulders are not the only places where bad posture exists.  It can’t really keep you in good posture if you don’t have good balance from the core muscles. But this is a good trick that only takes a couple of seconds to give you relief and help you begin to correct your posture.

If you are having any issues with your posture we would love to help you with chiropractic care. Please give us a call and set up an appointment today.
